Environmental
health is comprised of the relationship between human health and
the environment. The quality of the environment is directly related
to our quality of life. Safe food and water, sanitary living and
working conditions, clean air, and the absence of hazardous materials
are essential to good health.
Local health districts work in partnership with state and federal
agencies at a community level to prevent the spread of disease
agents. The Pomperaug District Department of Health is responsible
for enforcement of the Connecticut Public Health Code, relevant
State statutes and regulations, and local health ordinances.
