HEPATITIS "B" IMMUNIZATIONS / SCHOOLS

Hepatitis "B" Immunizations
The Pomperaug Health District began an aggressive campaign to provide free Hepatitis "B" vaccinations to Middle School children in fiscal year 2001. Working with the school nurses, the Health District immunized over 250 children in all the Middle Schools and High Schools of the District. This included Oxford schools, Region 14 schools, and Region 15 schools, for a total of 622 vaccinations. The vaccination, now required for entrance into 7th grade, is administered in a three shot series. By utilizing free vaccine from the State of Connecticut, the District was able to save each family several hundred dollars, along with improving the immunization status of our children..
